VVMF Staff and Veterans Celebrate!

VVMF staff members always jump at the chance to get out of the office and serve veterans. Last Friday we joined with the leadership from Student Veterans of America and the George Washington University Veteran Service Initiative for a birthday celebration event at the DC VA Medical Center’s Long Term Care Facility. We celebrated those residents who have had November birthdays by bringing them cupcakes, cards, gifts, and our dance skills. We especially enjoyed connecting with the Vietnam veterans; we learned a thing or two about life during the war!

VVMF Collections Assistant, Anneliese Bustillo, spent most of the afternoon speaking with USMC Sgt. Pierre Carter. Carter is a native of D.C. who served in Vietnam from 1967-1969. He was at the Battle of Khe Sanh and he was a part of the Tet Offensive. We are so glad we got the chance to meet Carter and all of the veterans!
