OTHER INFORMATION:

We started our adventure toSanfordwith the motor cycle escort at Harley-Davidson ofAshevillewith our good friend Ob Jammer (Bill Emerson) leading out as road captain. The local police blocked traffic and allowed us to proceed through red lights it was pretty much a regular escort ride until we started to make a right turn onto the street where the funeral home was located. Even though the traffic was blocked a vehicle in the left turn lane blocked enough of the highway that the right turn was so tight, Bob missed a light pole by only a fraction of an inch, very exciting to those following behind us.

On Thursday an Opening Ceremony was held with the events as follows: Presentation of Colors by Southern Lee High School, Invocation by Father Tom Parsons, Captain US Marine Corps, Reserve Vietnam Veteran, Speakers, Jamie Boles-Boles Funeral Home, NC Representative Mike Stone, and Sanford Mayor Cornelia P. Olive, Address to the Public Chaplin LTC Don Kochanek.

Friday Military Honors to the Family of SSG George W Sisler Vietnam Veteran that died Sept 7, 1993 and never received a proper military funeral. A flag was presented to Frances Sisler, wife of the late SSG Sisler, by US Army SFC Sigler. With the Opening Ceremony as follows; Don Schreiner, Prayer by Chaplin LTC Don Kochanek, Taps, Speaker Grandson of SSG Sisler, Closing Prayer by Chaplin LTC Don Kochanek and Closing by Don Schreiner.

Saturday they had a Reading of the Names Ceremony and a presentation of the POW/MIA table by Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.

Sunday a Day of Remembrance concluding with a funeral service of a local Vietnam Veteran held at the Wall That Heals.

Lee Setzer visited us at a previous site before bringing the Wall That Heals toSanfordNC. He had no idea as to what to expect or how things would run. I congratulate them on the way the area was setup for the Wall That Heals and for the decorations.

On Monday it was time to pack up and leave the new found friends and move on to the next location.
