Please join us this Veterans Day
Where are you planning to spend this Veterans Day? I hope it will be at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., as my special guest.
I am extending you this invitation to attend our Veterans Day Ceremony at The Wall because you are such a committed supporter of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF). None of our efforts to honor the service, sacrifice and legacies of Vietnam veterans would be possible without your help. Thank you!
Spending time at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Veterans Day is always a moving experience. Veterans, their families, current members of the U.S. military, dignitaries and patriotic Americans from across the country join together to remember and reflect.
This year’s ceremony will be all the more special if you are there too.
Please RSVP now to let me know if you will be attending on Veterans Day (November 11). If you can’t make it, I am certain you will be commemorating Veterans Day in your own meaningful way. Please click here to let me know about your plans and to share your thoughts on the meaning of Veterans Day with other VVMF supporters.
Whether your next visit to the Memorial is on Veterans Day or any other day, I also encourage you to check out the future site of VVMF’s Education Center at The Wall. Scheduled to open in 2014, the Education Center will tell the stories behind the heroes named on The Wall and give visitors a better understanding of the Vietnam War, the men and women who fought in it, and the lessons that tumultuous period of U.S. history can still teach us about the true meanings of loyalty, duty, honor and courage.
With Veterans Day just a few weeks away, now would be a particularly fitting time to make a special contribution to VVMF to help build the Education Center.
I hope you can attend our 2011 Veterans Day Ceremony at The Wall. But even if you aren’t there in person, I know you will be in spirit. Thanks, as always, for everything you do to honor America’s veterans every day of the year!
P.S. Veterans Day will be here before you know it. When it has passed, the opportunity to have your contribution matched will be over too. Please take a moment right now to give so your donation can be doubled. Thank you!
Established in 1979, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and promoting healing and educating about the impact of the Vietnam War. Authorized by Congress, its most recent initiative is building The Education Center at The Wall, an underground facility near the Memorial that is designed to add faces to all the names on The Wall and tell their stories to future generations. Other Memorial Fund initiatives include educational programs for students and teachers and a traveling Wall replica.
