The Wall that Heals Visits Morgan City, LA: Tales from the Road

We were escorted from La Place LA by the American Legion Riders from Post 96 and several other bike organizations. Lunch was served to approximately 80 bikers by the Marine Corps League.
On Wednesday, we were assisted by the St. Mary Parrish attachment of the Marine Corps League and several other veterans in putting up the Wall.
On Thursday an opening ceremony was held with the program consisting of an invocation by Brother Ronnie Cuvillier, official welcome by Tim Matte, Mayor of Morgan City LA, reveille by 4th Division Marine Corps Reserve Brass Quintet, Post of Colors (National & State) by Morgan City High School JROTC, Pledge of Allegiance by Tim David, Star Spangled Banner by vocalist Scottie Bailey, introduction by Eddie Balli, remarks by Frank Guarisco, Speaker, Author, and Vietnam Veteran Lloyd King, “Nam with Love,” Presentation of Rifles by Morgan City JROTC, “America” by Scottie Bailey, reading of names/laying of wreaths by Eddie Balli, Bill Goessl/ Mrs. Raymond Beadle, Missing Man Ceremony by Bill Goessl, Moment of Silence by Tim David, Taps by Michael Swiber, Funeral Squad (21-Gun Salute) United Veteran’s League, Closing remarks by mayor Tim Matte, Benediction Reverend Ron Blas, Retiring the Colors by Morgan City JROTC, and dismissal by Eddie Balli.
During the course of the day on Thursday and Friday numerous bus loads of students were brought to see the Wall and were given classes at the Wall by several local Vietnam Veterans.
Thursday evening we were invited to the home of Bob and Connie Radtke for a steak dinner in honor of the Marine Corps Reserve Band that was performing a concert on Friday evening for the Toys for Tots mission.
On Sunday evening a Departure Ceremony was held with the Invocation by Reverend Terry Bunner, Pledge of Allegiance by Tim David, Welcome and Comments by Morgan City Mayor, Tim Matte, “America” by the Cuvillier Family, Remarks by Reverend Tommy Fromenthal, Funeral Squad (21 Gun Salute), a Candle Light Vigil, Closing Comments by Eddie Balli, and Benediction by Reverend David Theriot.
The Marine Corps League prepared and served a cajun-style dinner for all volunteers after the ceremony.
